The Itsekiri Progress Club (IPC) has called on the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari to rule the country with the fear of God.
The group asked him to ensure strict adherence to and enforcement of the rule of law in the governance of the country.
This was disclosed in a statement its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Lawrence Ukubeyinje, and Secretary, Mr. Austin Oborogbeyi in Warri, Delta state, Daily Independent reports.
The IPC advised the newly elected president to administer the country bearing in mind the collective interest of all Nigerians.
Commending Buhari for his steadfastness, doggedness and resilience in the fight to lead the country, the group called on him to see the whole country as his constituency and endeavour to wipe out corruption and other challenges facing the country.
The Itsekiri group further commended President Goodluck Jonathan for a free, fair, credible and violence free election and also for conceding defeat.
After Buhari emerged winner of the March 28 presidential election, Jonathan had called him to congratulate.
According to the IPC, Jonathan’s action had attained him the status of a world leader in the class of late Nelson Mandela in the African continent.
The group added that the outcome of the election has changed the views of Nigerians and the international community for the better.
Before the elections, report had surfaced that the Itsekiri Consolidated Movement (ICM), in Warri, Delta State, had given their support to Buhari rather than Jonathan, who is from the same region with them.
