11th Edition of Ghigho Aghofen – Oboghoro Community

September 28 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Amidst the echoes of tradition and the vibrant rhythms of the Itsekiri culture, the 11th edition of Ghigho Aghofen is set to captivate attendees on September 28th, 2024, at the illustrious Palace of the Olu of Warri Kingdom in Aghofen Warri. This auspicious occasion marks a significant transition as the esteemed Orugbo community gracefully relinquishes their stewardship, making way for the revered Oboghoro community.

Nestled in the serene landscapes of Warri North LGA, Oboghoro community is steeped in heritage and renowned for its annual Oboghoro festival, a testament to their rich cultural tapestry. As they step into the role of guardians of the Palace watch, Oboghoro community brings with them the spirit of unity and the essence of their twin community, Utonlila.

During their three-month tenure at the Palace, guests will be treated to the mesmerizing sights and sounds of Oboghoro’s unique Itsekiri dances, a spectacle that embodies the soul of their community. The 11th edition of Ghigho Aghofen promises to be a celebration of continuity, diversity, and the enduring legacy of the Warri Kingdom, as Oboghoro community takes its place in the annals of history.
