19th Edition of Ghigho Aghofen as Bobi Hands Over to Utonlila Community
Warri Kingdom proudly announces the official schedule for the 19th Edition of the Ghigho Aghofen (Palace Watch). This September, the dedicated Bobi Community will conclude their three‑month service to the Crown and formally hand over duties to the incoming Utonlila Community.
This sacred transition continues to reflect the unity, discipline, and deep cultural heritage of the Iwere people. To mark the occasion, the Palace has outlined a three‑day programme of royal and cultural activities.
Schedule of Events
Ugwa‑Olu (Royal Visit)
Date: Thursday, September 24, 2026
Venue: Bobi Community
Details: The ceremonies will begin with the Ugwa‑Olu. His Majesty, Ògíamẹ̀ Atúwàtse III CFR, the Olu of Warri, will pay a historic royal visit to the Bobi community. Ogiame will walk upon their soil to offer blessings and prayers for continued prosperity, honouring their successful stewardship during the Palace Watch.
Aghofen Drama Troupe Presentation

Venue: Aghofen (Palace of the Olu of Warri)
Details: On the eve of the handover, the Aghofen Drama Troupe will present a captivating theatrical performance celebrating the history, resilience, and spirit of Warri Kingdom. Guests will experience storytelling through dance, rhythm, and dramatic artistry that brings Iwere heritage to life.

Details: The grand finale will take place at the Palace, where the Bobi Community will formally hand over the prestigious Palace Watch duties to the Utonlila Community. Attendees can expect a vibrant cultural display featuring traditional regalia, royal processions, masquerades, and spirited Itsekiri dances from both communities.
