USELE, WARRI SOUTH, DELTA STATE – The night sky over Usele Community was set ablaze with festivity from the late hours of Monday, December 29th through to the morning of Tuesday, December 30th, 2025, as the descendants of royalty unleashed a whirlwind of jubilation to celebrate Prince Oritsemone Ikengbuwa Day.
The atmosphere was electric as the community held an all-night cultural vigil, transforming the town into a carnival of unbridled joy to honour the enduring legacy of Prince Oritsemone Ikengbuwa, the 4th son of Olu Ikengbuwa.
A Night of Remembrance (29th – 30th Dec)
The celebration was a profound commemoration of a legendary figure in Itsekiri history. Prince Oritsemone is revered as the steadfast guardian who protected the Olu of Warri Crown and sacred Itsekiri artefacts for a staggering 88 years.
To mark this legacy, the Usele people danced through the night, united in pride and reverence for their royal ancestor. The festivities served as a testament to his resilience and the community’s vow to keep his memory etched in time.
Pulsating Rhythms till Dawn
From the 29th night into the early light of the 30th, the air pulsated with rhythms provided by DJ BB. His infectious energy kept the crowd on their feet, with vibrant colours and dancing taking over the streets.
Elders, youths, and friends of the community joined in the “whirlwind of jubilation,” creating a spectacle that attendees described as a fitting tribute to a man whose name remains synonymous with loyalty and guardianship.
