In a spectacular display of reverence and grandeur, the Itsekiri nation gathered at the historic palace of His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, the Olu of Warri, to commemorate the second coronation anniversary since his coronation (Uge Oyo Ekoro) as the 21st Olu of Warri Kingdom. The event unfolded as a celestial experience on Earth, as Palace Chiefs, led by the Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom, Chief Oritsema Oma Eyewuoma, along with Itsekiri individuals, their companions, and well-wishers, united to honor their esteemed monarch.

The august presence of the Olu of Warri, accompanied by his esteemed wife, Olori Atuwatse, was joined by a jubilant congregation, who collectively extended a special expression of gratitude to the Divine for bestowing grace, mercy, and safeguarding upon the Itsekiri people, their ancestral land, and the realm of Warri.

Marked as the official “Praise Day,” today’s event signals the official commencement of the second-year coronation anniversary of the Olu, Ogiame Atuwatse III on the pristine and ancient throne of Warri Kingdom. Amidst the festivities, the Itsekiri Nation utilized the occasion to entrust all forthcoming programs related to the anniversary into the hands of the Divine. The Praise Day featured praise and worship sessions by various musical groups within Warri Kingdom, thanking God for a wonderful 2 years on the throne for Ogiame Atuwatse III.

A noteworthy highlight will occur on the following day, August 19, 2023, when distinguished Itsekiri individuals will be granted prestigious chieftaincy titles in recognition of their deserving contributions to the Itsekiri Nation.
