WARRI SOUTH, DELTA STATE – The rich cultural heritage of the Itsekiri people was on full display on Friday, December 12, 2025, as the Omadino Community in Warri South Local Government Area hosted the widely celebrated Nenuwa Day 2025.
The event, now in its fourth year, attracted a heavy presence of royalty, with senior Chiefs from the Palace of the Olu of Warri in attendance to identify with the historic community.
A Gathering of Chiefs
The ceremony was elevated by the presence of some of the most senior titleholders in Warri Kingdom. Leading the delegation were:
- Chief Gabriel Awala – The Uwangue of Warri Kingdom.
- Chief Anthony Ewarami Onuwaje – The Oshodi of Warri Kingdom (an illustrious indigene of Omadino).
- Chief Francis Ọmatsẹye – The Udefi of Warri Kingdom.
- Chief (Dr.) Eugene Abidemi Ikomi – The Olulaye of Warri Kingdom.

Their presence underscored the significance of Omadino in the traditional architecture of Warri Kingdom, with the Oshodi’s attendance serving as a proud homecoming for one of the community’s most distinguished sons.
A Legacy of Growth (2022–2025)
The Nenuwa Day celebration has rapidly become a flagship event in the community’s calendar. It was first instituted in 2022 under the visionary leadership of Mr. Tuoyo Mogbeyiteren, the Chairman of Omadino Community.
The inspiration for the festival traces back to the community’s stellar outing at Ghigho Aghofen (Palace Watch) ceremony at the Olu of Warri’s Palace. Following their “fantastic” performance during their tenure as Palace watchers, the leadership decided to channel that energy into an annual community celebration.
Since that inaugural edition, the event has grown in “leaps and bounds,” evolving from a local gathering into a major cultural festival that attracts visitors from across Warri Kingdom.
A Celebration of Identity
The 2025 edition featured vibrant cultural displays and traditional dance performances that highlighted the unique identity of the Omadino people. All of these also featured Omadino community songs.
In his remarks, the community leadership expressed gratitude for the sustained growth of the festival and reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the cultural legacy of Omadino for future generations.
