His Excellency, Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, officially opened the Warri South Council 30-bed Cottage Hospital on Wednesday. The hospital, built and equipped by Warri South Council Chairman, Dr. Micheal Tidi, stands proudly on the former Erejuwa Playground along Upper Erejuwa Road in Warri Kingdom.

Governor Oborevwori, visibly excited by the development, reiterated his support for financial autonomy for local governments during the commissioning ceremony. “This hospital exemplifies the power of local governance to elevate the lives of its people,” he declared. “By providing quality, affordable healthcare right here at the Erejuwa Playground, Dr. Tidi has set a shining example for all council chairmen.”

The governor emphasized his belief in a “bottom-up” approach to governance, prioritizing the needs of the people at the grassroots level. He commended Dr. Tidi’s leadership and urged other council heads to emulate his success.

Former Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan lauded the project, calling it “a dream come true for Warri.” He acknowledged the ongoing needs of the region but expressed optimism for the future.

Dr. Tidi, soon to conclude his term, highlighted his administration’s focus on primary healthcare initiatives, citing impressive immunization coverage rates. He expressed his gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for his support and requested assistance in securing qualified medical personnel to maximize the hospital’s potential.
