His Royal Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri paid an auspicious visit to Omadino Community as part of activities marking the end of the 3rd edition of Ghigho Aghofen on Thursday 22nd of September 2022. Omadino community rolled out the drums together with their colourful Itsekiri attire to welcome Ogiame Atuwatse III to their community.
It will be recalled that Ghigho Aghofen commenced with the aboriginal communities that make up Warri Kingdom and Omadino community is one of the aboriginal communities. This prestigious group also has Ureju Community (1st edition of Ghigho Aghofen), Inorin Community (2nd edition of Ghigho Aghofen), Okotomu Irigbo (planned 4th edition of Ghigho Aghofen) and Ode-Ugborodo (planned 5th edition of Ghigho Aghofen). The community is home to descendants of Nenuwa and the community has long existed before 1480 when Warri Kingdom (Itsekiri Nation) was formed.
Jelu Primary School Students
The visitation was hosted at the playground of Jelu Primary School located at Omadino community. The school was founded in 1940 and as such, one of the oldest schools in Warri Kingdom.
Jelu primary school students also partook in gbosen (homage paying to Ogiame). They displayed the rich cultural dance steps of the Itsekiri people. While thanking them for their presentation, Chief Brown Mene announced that Ogiame Atuwatse III in his magnanimity has made a donation of four hundred thousand naira (N400,000) to the school.
Omadino Community Management Committee
As part of Ogiame’s visit to Omadino Community, Ogiame Atuwatse III resolved the different factions that has stalled the development of Omadino community over the years. It will be recalled that Omadino community is known for factions as there has been an age long infighting over governance of the crude oil rich community resulting in the stagnation of their development. All of these were put to an end today as Ogiame Atuwatse III announced a new Omadino Community Management Committee (Omadino Community Trust). The current Olare Aja is Pa O. D. Edukugho.
While addressing Omadino community and the Itsekiri Nation present at the event, Ogiame confirmed that following investigations, the allegations against Mr Mogbeyiteren Tuoyo were proven to be incorrect. As a result of this, Baba has decided to confirm him as the Chairman of Omadino Community Management Committee. Other members of the community were also announced.
Ogiame blesses Omadino Community
As is now customary during Ogiame Atuwatse IIIs visits to Itsekiri communities, Ogiame blessed the land and waters around Omadino community and prayed for accelerated development for the community.
